Hey you! Remember that giant monster-of-a-man from Game of Thrones, with all of the tattoos, who married the dragon lady and poured molten gold on her creepy brother? Well, it’s old news now that the same actor, Jason Momoa, has been selected to play the role of Aquaman in the upcoming slew of movies that will be part of the DC Cinematic Universe. Well, according to Cinema Blend, the new Aquaman has recently expressed his strong thoughts about DC comics’ old publishing rival, Marvel, when he signed a fan’s poster.
Following the post, the internet exploded with the rage and applaud of nerds everywhere. In the past, a statement like this from Aquaman may have been seen as a joke, since he was pretty much just a goof who could swim really fast but didn’t have any cool super powers. However, according to ComicVine, in 2011 the character was given a serious reboot with the arrival of DC’s New 52. Critically acclaimed comics author Geoff Johns was able to redeem the character in a number of ways, but most importantly by providing him with a fresh, powerful mythos as DC’s new King of the Sea. Plus – seriously – Momoa is a straight up man’s man.
The response from fan’s to Momoa’s statement has certainly been mixed and spirited, but one thing is probably safe to assume:
Momoa won’t be working at Marvel in the future.
